Most of Iceland has moon-like landscape...and we will drive straight across the island.
From Gullfoss to Varmalid, with nothing inbetween...
The first few miles are paved.
then it changes, next paved road is 125 miles ahead
first stop after a couple of hours
the only signs of civilization are some fences and gates
the roads are dry
and visibility becomes limited

We pass some hard-core cyclists...they have some 100 miles left, with no houses, stores...or trees.
