Beautiful India
October 17, 2007
India is a place of beautiful people
palaces, finely decorated
temples with figures
(for everyone to enjoy)
the market has not changed in 800 years
the home of the banana
Barely the size of my thumb...but tasty!
and anything else that grows
they also decorate their vehicles
[navaratri festival week now]
...and themselves
for painting yourself
incredible wildlife
mist colored mountains
gorgeous historical parks
wonderful little boats to take you onto a river
and maybe take you for a spin
(986 kB movie file)
an old man trying to fix his Ambassador
unmatched natural beauty
rice patties abound
[just my luck the Mysore Palace was closed that afternoon]
the spectacular Mysore Palace, view from Chamundi Hills
there's an M.G. Road in every city
The Bangalore Parliament is the "White House" of India
Unfortunately, the state court is run by corruption, not law.
many traces of British rule
a run-down building in downtown Bangalore
Inside Bull Temple...
...lies a bull, quite comfortably.
in a small park nearby
criss-crossed by pathways
trees in full bloom
get yourself some roasted corn or peanuts
—or a drink of pressed sugar canes?
remove your shoes at all tempels
...also the ourdoor ones.
old meets new, everywhere
and many religions
The Iskcon Temple atop a hill in Bangalore...
...supposedly filled with diamonds and gold.
