Late at night as it is, the only available room in Cortez happens to be a Best Western suite!
Fireplace in the bedroom (too bad it's 90° outside :-)
There are plenty of cliff dwellings around Mesa Verde, and the protected location along with a year-around supply of water from the Mesas make for good habitat for humanity.
We hike down to one "village" to get a closer look.
