Heading down highway one
June 5, 2006

The actual roadtrip starts....at the mall. In Gilroy, we visit the outlets.

Can't buy too much though, the car is already packed to the limit...

The first night is spent at El Cheapo Motel in Salinas.

Early next morning, we set out south, along the scenic coastal highway 1.

The morning fog is just clearing as we go.

Since I've seen the views before, I rather play with my new zoom :-)

'tis fun!

hearty breakfast in Big Sur

another red car

"Objects in mirror are closer than they appear" - how true in this case.

sections of the road are still blanketed with fog

waiting for a roadblock to clear

sea lions are plentiful on this beach

sleepy

playful

talkative

plentiful

I finally find the time to visit Solvang, the all-Danish town.

"Den fula ankungen"...?

Danish pastries en masse

In Ventura, we got very lucky. The northbound was just blocked by a crash.
Minutes after we passed it, southbound got blocked to, by a rubber-necking crash....

As the evening falls...we find ourselves invited to a gourmet dinner at Hans' and Ulrika's, just south of L.A.

Linn, being her usual shining self.

Even more tips on where to take our roadtrip...for instance, the helicopter over Grand Canyon.

Funny, they have the same model car I do.

Hans is going for a ride in the hills, today after work.

Next morning offers a light drizzle...

...and a sip of milk.

Hmm....how did it all fit yesterday?

It's time to thank for the hospitality, and say goodbye for now.

-So long!
