July 13, 2005
On Wednesday, our last day full on Iceland, we rented a car and headed norht to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.

Despite the Icelandic summer near-midnight sun, we didn't see much of it for most of our stay. The summer was having a hard time getting through the clouds and the rain.

You can see where the glacier is.
Could also be California.
We ventured off into a lava field.

Somewhere out there is Greenland...
We stopped for this view of the glacier Snćfell...
...finding ourselves surrounded by nesting birds.

Back on the road again...actually paved for a bit here.
A small roadside cove...
...home of nesting seagulls, and a cute little café for humans.
We had apple pie with hot chocolate, overlooking the blue ocean in the south.

While we were off on our little road trip, the others went south-east to stop by Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökul.
