July 4th in Tahoe
July 4, 2004

It's Sunday, July 4th. I climb into the car and head off to Tahoe.

fields turn into hills, tree-lined road narrows

Another one of these convertible days

A summer glance of the Kirkwood ski resort

Another breathtaking stop along the way

July 4th and lingering snow

The Bernard's

I head off to a nearby pool with Chuck, Lukas and Hanna.

In the evening, we're invited to Shawna and Dave's in Tahoe Keys, where they serve delicious grilled salmon.

Their view of a very, very July 4th busy marina.

[cop car parking]

Darkness falls and we head down to Lake Tahoe beach.

We're definately not the only ones lined up to take in the fireworks...the lake is crowded with hundreds of boats.

spectators

Next mornig - we hop in the Jeep and head up a windy dirt road to beautiful Angora Lakes.

quick stop on the ridge

A glimpse of the Fallen Leaf Lake.

-Anybody knows what kind of bird I've got here?

Lukas, 2

The lakes are just a short hike off the end of the road.

Lower Angora Lake

a surreal reflection

Upper Angora Lake.

Lukas and Chuck dive in right away

-Where did papa go...?

Here he is, trying to balance on a log...

The Bernards

-There goes papa again.

I insert a new CD, and take it to the road again - eastbound.

just spotted a lovely campsite for next trip up here

Along the way; the small town of Jackson

I keep heading west along scenic hwy 88

It's pretty toasty out....great convertible weather!

another rest stop

an apple farm, thousands of trees line my way

Another farm lining the hills before Livermore.
